Index for Vision Professionals
Notice to Vision Professionals
This site was originally aimed solely at vision professionals. I’m now in the process of modifying it so that it is a resource for patients and their families as well. In the process of making that change I’ve had to break the formatting of the existing pages, so a lot of them look like rubbish — sorry about that, it will all be fixed in time, and better than ever.
What I’d recommend is that you read the public-facing pages first. It will be mostly stuff you already know, but I think there’s some benefit in seeing it in language aimed at the general public — after all, clear communication with our patients is a super-important part of our professional roles, and I always feel I benefit from hearing how my peers explain things. You’ll probably find the content is covered a bit differently to the way you learnt it at University, so you might even learn something new.
My plan is to use the public-facing articles as the ‘spine’ of the whole site, with links appearing throughout the text that will go to vision-professional pages for discussion of the technical aspects of low vision as they arise. So eventually the pages below will be retired, as they are replaced by new ones.
Still, for now, please feel free to work your way through the old pages, and remember to keep checking back for updates.
